Mad About You and Just Going Mad
I tried to get back on the intermittent fasting train yesterday.
And then Bella, my oldest, made bread from scratch.
Of course I was going to eat it.
It is my duty—as a mother and lover of carbs—to celebrate my teenager’s baking endeavors. So yes, I absolutely dug into some well-made bread before it disappeared. (It took about 10 minutes.)
I fully realize that pandemic pounds won’t melt away with these kinds of celebrations, but that’s for Future Cristina to worry about.
Later that day, I had to pick up extra school supplies from the girls’ school, and when they asked me what grade Liv was in… I couldn’t remember.
I paused.
I actually had to think about it.
Wait—did she finish sixth grade?
Good Lord.
A whole school year ended without a proper ending, and another one began without a real beginning. My brain was trying to process what felt like the exact same year all over again.
As I walked away—finally remembering she was in seventh grade—I didn’t expect to feel sad. But I did.
Today, while making lunch, I decided to watch Mad About You.
With the nation in a state of crisis (again) and my growing desire to spend less time on social media, I figured a little 1992 would do me good.
Mad About You is so 1992.
The answering machine is basically a key character. The show would be nothing without it. The same goes for the newspaper.
Gen X, remember what it was like to read the news in the morning, get an hour’s worth at 6 p.m., and then go on with your life?
What a concept.
It is now #lifegoals
And honestly?
They are goals worth fighting for—at least they are for me.

Oh, and by the way, I didn’t get far without hearing Trump’s name. Episode 2 and there he was and now there was no doubt that the caption could possibly be true. *ahem
Is it January 20th yet?
