THE PLACE THE CALL HOME

The poem above has nothing to do with the images below but I thought I’d just share a bit of my view tonight.

Lucas has fallen asleep on the couch and is covered up with what happens to be his old baby blanket. (We all love to use that old blanket.) He has his favorite stuffed animal by his side. It is a character from the book he was reading before he fell asleep. Underneath the blanket, he is wearing the t-shirt of the same character, too. (Dog Man and Dav Pilkey are heroes around here, there is no doubt about that.)

The reason Lucas fell asleep on the couch is that we are currently in the middle of a kid’s bathroom remodel and, because of the mess, Bella and Lucas chose to sleep on the couches rather than share a bed. For some reason, they found it a rather fun change of scenery. So, while she was finishing up some homework, I took up her space on the couch and started the process of unloading my mind.

No, the poem isn’t about this scene. It’s about a feeling that made its way into my mind at some point in a day full of million thoughts. Sometimes I manage to find a moment to write some of those thoughts down. Sometimes I even get lucky enough to get to do it while watching a sweet little boy sleep with his literary heroes by his side.

And I’ll take that every time.

Another part of the scene is my silly dog sitting right next to me.
Pink bow and wondering what I’m doing.
